Timeline of Events in Honduras from a Honduran in Honduras

From my friend who is an attorney in Honduras:

I am very sad, because  the international news are spreading inaccurate information to the international public regarding  the Honduras President substitution.  All the spreading information is based only on the comments that the ex-president Zelaya said on Sunday morning.

The Presidential substitution was made after he made his resignation letter, after he committed a crime on taking the ballots and survey material from the Air Force installations after they were confiscated by the General Attorney - Public Prosecutor (Fiscalia), and after he kept on running the National Survey for a New Constituent Assembly.

This Presidential substitution was approved by the majority of the representatives of the Congress.

Only us, the Hondurans, know the damage that the ex-president Zelaya caused  in our country and the fear that we all lived for a long time upon thinking that our governmental regimen was going to change since his only purpose was to abolish our Honduran Constitution (Carta Magna) by installing a Constituent Assembly.

Why to install a Constituent Assembly? His purpose was to change the articles that can't  be modified neither abolished, he wanted the re-election or to stay as President for a longer time such as his homologues Hugo Chavez and/or Fidel Castro,  to allow foreigners to have property of border land and turn our form of government as a Monarchy with all the power centered in the Executive instead of the Separation of Powers that all Democratic Estates has in which  the State is divided in to Three Separate and Independent Powers: Executive, Judicial and Legislative Powers. The President, Congress and Mayors are elected every 4 years, and re-election is not permitted by our constitution. Supreme Court is elected every 7 years by the Congress and the President.

Ex-president Zelaya in his speech , does not include that he is totally advised by Hugo Chavez.

Ex-president Zelaya speaks about a Coup d'Etat, but what really happened was a replacement of the president   based in our Constitutional Law, (Primary Law from our Country) originated by the faults that he committed.

He has been working for the last 6 months on the "Cuarta Urna", which he describes as a survey in which the  people can be consulted if they want  a 4th ballot box in the general elections to decide if the people want a Constituent Assembly in order to change our Constitution because in his opinion our Constitution was not good enough for the people.

Hugo Chavez, Venezuela president, shipped the survey ballots from Venezuela.

Our Constitution has proper and legal procedures to have a Referendum done.

This survey that was programmed to be made on June 28th was declared illegal by our Supreme Court, this Power confiscated the survey poll material in the Air Force installations since it was declared unconstitutional.  The Supreme Court as well, instructed to the Armed Forces not to carry out the logistics of survey ballots and material as they usually does. Ex-president Zelaya did not obeyed the Judicial Resolution from the Court, went to the Air Force accompanied with his people to take all the survey material in order to distribute it among all his activists.

Ex-president Zelaya committed a crime, he did not obeyed the Judicial Power turning himself into  a homeland traitor:

·         He took the survey poll material when it as confiscated by the Judicial Power

·         He kept working with the survey poll that may be held on June 28th.

This survey was against our Constitutional Law.

Ex-president Zelaya does not include in his speech that he made a Decree which will come into effect  on Monday June 29th, abolishing the National Congress and  call for the installation of a Constituent Assembly conformed with his loyal pupils.

On June 24th he removed from charge at the Chief of the Arm Forces General Romeo Vasquez Romero, because he did not follow his instructions on helping him in distributing the national survey poll material. The Arm Forces Chief told to the ex-president that the survey poll was illegal and unconstitutional; that he can't help him in this matter, that he has been advised and informed by the Supreme Court that it was an illegal act.  This same day he approved the resignation of the Defense Secretary Edmundo Orellana. He made a National media announcement approving the removal of General Romeo Vasquez Velasquez and the resignation of Defense Secretary - Edmundo Orellana.

The Supreme Court  declared that  General Romeo Vasquez, has to come back as the Armed Forces Chief since his destitution was illegal, it was unfounded. One more time Ex-president Zelaya made an illegal fault.

On June 25th the ex-president declares that he did not removed General Romeo Vasquez, since he has not handed a written fire letter to the General.

On June 25th ex-presidente Zelaya signed his resignation letter.

On June 28th ex-president Zelaya denies his resignation.

Ex-president Zelaya  includes in his speech that millions of people are fighting in the streets, and all we know that the situation is tense but in a calm condition.

Ex-president Zelaya was and is surrounded of lies.

Ex-president Zelaya has not presented the National Budget from last years. The Congress has requested several times.

Ex-president Zelaya does not include in his speech, that he has been working for the last 3 years in political campaign on abolishing our Constitution. He forgot on our country true problems such as health, education, security, road infrastructure, financial, and drug traffic, he was completely careless. Our country has been terribly impoverished, companies have closed, foreign investors have left and the delinquency levels have grown in a disproportionate form.

The external debt that in good faith diverse international organisms and friend countries condoned was an effort of our ex-President Maduro's period, but this effort was no use at all, because now we owe more than before.

Ex-president Zelaya does not include in his speech that Hugo Chavez and himself has threatened our people with Venezuelan troops that are located in Nicaragua.

To the International Organisms, such as OAS (Organization of American States), UN (United Nations,  EU (European Union), Andino Parliament , SICA (Central American Integrated System) :

We the Hondurans, are so happy to have our country back. We do not want Chavez ideals in our country. We are a free and a peaceful country. Chavez is an octopus, wishing to spread his ideals worldwide.

We have a new legal President, ROBERTO MICHELETTI, who was designated according to our Constitution.  We do not have a Vice-president, so the next in line is the Congress President.  We still have our Constitution and other laws. We have a Supreme Court, a Congress and a President. Honduras is not a De Facto Government.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT, PLEASE RECOGNIZE MR. ROBERTO MICHELETTI AS OUR NEW PRESIDENT. PLEASE DO NOT CLOSE YOUR DOORS. YOU DO NOT WANT ONE MORE CUBA OR VENEZUELA IN THIS WORLD. WE HAVE FIGHT INTERNALLY BUT NOW WE NEED TO HAVE THE SUPPORT INTERNATIONALLY IN ORDER WORK IN OUR ECONOMICAL DISASTER THAT OUR EX-PRESIDENT LEFT IN OUR COUNTRY.

CHAVEZ HAS LOST IN OUR COUNTRY, IN OUR LAWS. HE IS THREATENING IN MAKING A VENEZUELAN TROOP INVASION FROM NICARAGUA. IF YOUR ORGANISMS RECOGNIZE OUR NEW PRESIDENT MICHELETTI, THEY WILL QUIT IN THIS INTENTIONS.

HE THOUGHT OUR CONSTITUTION WAS AS WEAK AS THE VENEZUELAN, BOLIVIAN AND ECUADORIAN.

HE DID NOT REALIZE THAT OUR CONSTITUTION WAS MADE BY VERY INTELLIGENT MEN AND WOMEN, WHO WERE CAUTIOUS AND AWARE THAT OUR COUNTRY WILL NOT BE IN A DE FACTO GOVERNMENT AGAIN. IT  CONTAIN ALL THE NECESSARY PROCEDURES TO KEEP OUR FREEDOM, TO KEEP  A REPUBLICAN, DEMOCRATIC AND REPRESENTATIVE FORM OF GOVERNMENT, THE ALTERNABILITY IN THE EXERCISE OF THE PRESIDENT AND NO RE-ELECTION.

I AM PROUD OF THESE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE GIVEN AND KEPT OUR COUNTRY'S SOVEREIGNITY. THEY NEED ALL OUR RECOGNITION.
