Everyone hit Pause Button and Investigate Events in Honduras before War Breaks Out!

UPDATE - It seems at least one news organization, the BBC, agrees with me and reporting on exactly what I have been saying about President Obama and the US State Department below.  Here is the story.

While President Obama was quick to deem the events in Honduras a Military Coup on June 29, 2009 - see video from BBC.  Experts that have a bias from both perspectives do NOT call this a Military Coup.  During an interview on the News Hour, Ray Suarez asks Roger Noriega a former ambassador to the Organization of American States in the Bush administration and Christopher Sabatini senior director of policy at the Americas Society, a think-tank focused on Latin America, "Was Manuel Zelaya removed from office in a coup?"

Roger Noriega deemed the transition from Mel Zelaya to Roberto Micheletti legal and in accordance to the laws of Honduras.  While Christopher Sabatini said it was a Classic Coup carried out by the Military.  He then changed and said not a Military Coup but a Institutional Coup after being pressed by Ray Suarez quoting from Roger Noriega (with a copy of supreme court capture order in his pocket).

Roger Noriega also did admit that "Now, does it look like a classic coup? Obviously, it looks enough like one that people making cursory judgments from 4,000 miles away think that it is a classic coup."  Take the lead from Roger Noriega and look into these events further before jumping to conclusions.

I think that even if you agree it was a coup, telling the American people by way of an Interview one day after the event has got to be a sign of Obama's ignorance of the region.  Get some input first from Christopher Sabatini if not Roger Noreiga before repeating what Mel Zelaya says.  How much investigation could have been done by President Obama's advisors one day after the event?

But wait, I am not finished, take a look at this CNN article that quotes a US State Department spokesman Ian Kelly as the US hits the pause button on aid while the lawyers investigate.  He further states "Our goal is the restoration of constitutional order in Tegucigalpa, which means the restoration of President Zelaya. There is a process led by the OAS which is in place,"  So basically the State Department has already deemed the act illegal but will let the OAS try and get Zelaya reinstated as President of Honduras.  Kelly also stated "In the meantime we have taken some actions to hit the pause button, let's say, on assistance programs that we would be legally required to terminate, if the events were determined to be a military coup".  They are not sure it was a military coup yet but they keep referring to it as one.  They are not exactly sure what happened but they want Mel Zelaya reinstated as President of Honduras.  Read these reports closely to get at the "REAL TRUTH", the truth reporters and government spokesmen do not want to tell.

So you stop aid to the second poorest country in our hemisphere while lawyers investigate and debate?  What are they investigating into exactly and what happened since President Obama was so sure it was a military coup?  This CNN article was published on July 2, 2009 is a full two days after President Obama declared events in Honduras a military coup and illegal.

President Obama, before making statements, please get your facts straight.  Would it not have been better to say, this APPEARS to be a military coup and we have our experts looking into the claims of exiled Honduran President Zelaya.  We are working on what actions we will take given this serious situation.  Instead, you ran into the arms of the leftist leaders of the Western Hemisphere.  Where are your allegiances President Obama?

My feeling is everyone needs to hit the pause button before war breaks out and I wonder if that is exactly what Chavez wants.  Study your history.  Chavez was convinced by Luis Miquilena to go the political route. He reluctantly agreed but what Chavez really wanted was revolution and take the country of Venezuela by force, not by election as he tried in his 1992 coup attempt .

In the name of freedom and democracy for our beloved Honduras, please slow down and get the facts straight.   We need to listen to the Honduran people NOT one man or even a few men who may have ulterior motives.  I also ask for your prayers for Honduras.

Kirk our pres__ent (no ID) is not interested in the truth. He is interested in furthering the power grab by the left by any means necessary. Witness his behavior in his own election campaign of 2008: accepting illegal donations from foreign sources; using Black Panther thugs to intimidate voters; employing ACORN to sign up millions of nonexistent voters, and on and on. He will never stand with the people of Honduras, because they are doing the right thing which happens to oppose his wishes to put Mel on a throne and keep him there. That's the depressing truth.
