Questions Raised About Honduras ‘Democratic’ Leader by U.S. Rep. Mack
"Manuel Zelaya trampled the Honduran constitution by pushing for his illegal referendum to allow him to rule indefinitely, and by firing the top military official, Gen. Romeo Vasquez Velasquez, when he refused to comply with Zelaya's unconstitutional orders," said Rep. Connie Mack, R-Fla.
"There is little doubt that Zelaya, in his blatant power grab, has moved Honduras down a dangerous path toward less freedom, less security, and less prosperity. ... The United States and our allies in the region must now stand with the Honduran people to ensure the respect of freedom, the rule of law and democracy," said Rep. Connie Mack, R-Fla.

Also read the letter by a US Congresswoman from Florida, to see what others are saying in the United States Congress that support the new Honduran Administration, maybe not agreeing how they took action but knowing that had to do something.

I think you have been misinformed, Zelaya was asking people to become a dictator, Zelayas was making a survey to see if there was a chance to send a law to Honduras congress to add a 4th ballot for November elections. Zelaya's survey cannot be illegal because it was just as a CID-Gallup type of question.
Honduran people in power have been part of multiple coups and illegal activities for decades, many are against this coup. I undrestand Chavez' involvement, that's why I think the US should be the one pushing for democracy to come back not Chavez.
Honduran people are respectful of our Constitution and Laws. Our Congress, Judicial Power, Attorney General, and the Commissioner of Human Rights gave plenty of reasons to Ex President Zelaya to desist, on a poll that was illegal since it was not regulated by governmental officials, to ask the people, if our Constitution should be modified, which eventually would lead to a referendum, and later to a Asamblea Constituyente. At this point Mel Zelaya our ex President, would change the articles of our Constitution at his own will. This will permit him to become reelected, and follow Chavez, Correa, and Castro’s footsteps. This consultation to our people was a Machiavellian plan to trick and deceived Hondurans into reelecting himself, currently it’s illegal for a President to reelect himself. The only agenda in our ex Presidents mind was to become re elected. Even at the expense of trampling over our current constitutional rights, and our democracy by signing with Chavez and co. because he saw it fit.
Every detail that has happen has been strictly according to our laws, in defense of our Constitution, and Democracy. We are concern that Venezuelan, Hugo Chavez, Cuban, Fidel Castro, can hardly wait to win another country over to their grasp, which clearly is demonstrated by their everyday actions. We the Honduran people at least a vast majority will not permit it, according to recent polls, since we repudiate Hugo Chavez form of government and interventions.
Remember when ex-president Zelaya was elected, with about 46 % percent of the votes, the opposition got about 42 % of the remaining votes. This tell us clearly that our ex President has only a portion of the people. Elvin Santos, the candidate for the Liberal party, the same party as Zelaya’s. In the primaries election Santos won 52% of the votes, voting him as the candidate for their Liberal party for our upcoming November elections. This 52% of voters, voting for Elvin Santos, do not approve anymore Mel Zelaya’s capricious consultation that has been disguised, as uncover by the newspaper La Tribuna page 11 Sunday 28 of June 2009 where the actual question on the poll was change from the original question, which lead Zelaya to establish an Asamblea Constitutional Constituyente. The original question: was a simple yes or no, to the right of the people to be consulted.
The only idea in Zelaya’s has in mind is to destroy our current Constitution and get his will, turning into a leftist government, as express by him when joining the ALBA, which by the way lot of people did not wanted this treaty sign. This left President Mel Zelaya with no support at all from a vast number of Hondurans, and his own Liberal party. He was left with Chavez and its revolutionary friends who back him up. He has continued to erode his voters by alienating them with imported ideas from Venezuela and Cuba. Please remember our officials are elected by the people. When we vote we elected our President, Congress, and Congress men regardless of party’s affiliation. Please help us and respect the will of our people in refusing to adopt an imported scheme from third countries like Venezuela. God bless us all, and save us from the claws of communism and Chavez and co.
We are your allies not Venezuela and their group. You can see the efforts of the professor of our ex president day in day out, closing TVs stations, Radio stations, appropriating Banks, closing anything or anybody that opposes in his way. He is even intimidating us, that he will invade Honduras and reinstating Mel as our ex President. The Military are no longer in control in Honduras the power, was immediately given back to the people. The President of the Congress will be temporarily the interim president until November when elections will take place.
Please God helps us. Open your eyes, can you see the similarities with Chavez. Have you stop and think what is happening in Venezuela? Easy math we are about 7 Million Hondurans and 1 Million leaving abroad. Do the math. What you see revolting is insignificant. The power is held by the Congress, Courts, Attorney General the Army is only second to the Civil Powers. Chavez, Correa and co. wants us to follow on their steps by force. Our elections are being held this coming November. As matter of fact even the candidate from his same party Elvin Santos is against the ex president. How come you guys do not report from Venezuela where Chavez is very unpopular? Tv stations, Radios and businesses are closed every day in Venezuela. Send reporters out there to cover the news. Large numbers of people in Venezuela are against Hugo Chavez, no body helps them. More countries like those, and free Reporters will be out of a job, since there will be nothing to report. Wonder Why? I leave it to your imagination. They use the press for their objectives and then they ban it.
Please check the La Tribuna web page a local newspaper to see more of what Mel Zelaya really is. Also check Wikipedia under Los Horcones massacre. Yesterday we had a march for Democracy in defense of our Constitution in Tegucigalpa with more than 25,000 people, with not even one incident of violence, today we had another march in Choluteca another Honduran city, with more people than the first one, zero violent incidents. Zelaya have very few followers and are paid by Chavez and co. with money flown in to Honduran in Chavez Planes, only a few demonstrate and are really violent and destructive.
Please help us to win the world favorable support, strange we are standing up for a Democracy and Defense of our Constitution. OEA, UNO, are in rush to help Mr. Zelaya a person with mental problems.
Thanks
